  this just proves my theory, that an education on the top tier universities just sucks and means nothing in the real world, unless its in the stem education.

  When I was in university there was a young man, Matt, in our class who said he was an anarchist. People took this program because we wanted to make the world a better place. He was clear. I want to tear it down. Let other people build it back up. They will thank people like me who are willing to tear it down so they can start from scratch.

  Trump very much reminds me of this man. Angry at a system that never gave Matt a chance dispite growing up in a middle class home, a free education (his parents were paying his way), free health care... Trump had way more advantages than most people and still rails how everyone id out to get him.

  I very quietly asked him, "After you tear it down, how are people supposed to survive?" That was not his concern.

  I tried again. "After you tear it down, no police, no garbage men, no doctors, teachers, road maintenance. No power, no gas for your car, no street lights. No food in the stores. No jobs. So no money for rent or mortgages therefore no home. No phones or anmbulances to take you to closed hospitals. So why should people thank you?"

  He bumblued along, muttering but had no answer. I'm patient. But nothing. I don't think he ever thought it through. The rest of the class sat silent.

  I don't remember anyone talking to me about it after. Not him. Not the prof. Not the restbof the class. But it was sobering. Hopefully it gave everyone there something to think about.

  Before the election people asked trump what his plan was. He had none. I have a plan of a plan, an idea. Nothing concrete.

  When you want to change something in society, you need a plan. Before you take things down you need the replacement ready.

  If you live in a town with a river there is most likely a bridge. But sometimes bridges need to be replaced. You prepare. You plan the new bridge. You lay its foundations and build the spans. You test it and make it is well built and safe. And only when you are ready with the new bridge do you close the old.

  Trump had no plan. We see that in the chaotic orders and withdrawals, the promises broken, forgotten or amended. We see the double standard and who he wants to buddy to to, always looking for someone or something else.

  Meanwhile other people seem to be running the country. The constitution, congress and the judiciary ignored.

  Have you read the Constitution lately. Many if not most JWs have never paid attention. I have been reading it. It was and is a masterpiece on how to run a country. The First Amendment states:

  Congress shall make no law of the establishment of religion or prohibiting free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people to peacefully assemble and to peacefully petition the goverment for redress of its grievances.

  And that is just the beginning. The entire document starts with:

  "WE THE PEOPLE..."

  The founding fathers wanted no king, and no national church to tell them how to live in their new country. They left that behind. AND in its place they drafted the Constitution.

  And in an amazingly short period of time trump has ignored all of it, has posted images of himself wearing a crown and even the popes garments and has allowed 2025 to take over the government destroying most of the freedoms that the Constitution gave them.

  As a Canadian I am appalled at what is happening just a few miles from where I am.

  Like many of you, I understand people who leave one cult and jump into another. I see people refer to trump as "Dear Leader".

  I just wantbthe madman and the madness to stop. Sooner. Not later. Too many families and children will suffer. And 2025 is NOT a solution. It is a nightmare about to happen.

  Their reasoning is reprehensible, immoral and criminal.

  I at least got some justice from the police. I got none from the congregation. I wound up losing my family and being put under what amounted to house arrest for 3 very long years.

  Clearly they do not realize that abusers lie. Their whole lives are a lie. And they have no problems lying to anyone about what they do to children.

  My mother's boyfriend got caught in the act. Neither he nor my mother were baptized JWs, but the elders still stuck their nose in it and failed to do the right and legal thing.

  hmmm. So it sounds like it might default to the issue of rape and putting the blame or responsibility on the victim.

  But not reported to the police and dealt with it within the congregation.

  And "surveillance" ???? How stupid. Just ask him if he did it again and when he says no enough times, make him an elder.

  To be historically correct society didn't want to talk about it in the 60s. The first books and serious research wasn't done until the early 80s.

  However, when I was 11, in 1963, I walked into a police station by myself and reported my father for molesting me. (pre-JW). They interviewed me, and when they realized I knew what I was talking about and there was medical proof, they got a woman, who I suspect was a social worker, to continue with the interview. Then the police drove me home and we sat in the car down the street and watched as they took my father out of the house in handcuffs. I did not see him again until the court case. At least someone was taking this seriously.

  One year later, in 1964, when my mother was studying with the JWs, my step-father was reported to the elders and not the police. My mother walked in and saw him with me, so I sure wasn't lying. Not a she said, he said sort of deal. My mother chose to keep him in the home and send me to foster care. With the elder's blessing. It seems everyone blamed me for this. He was in his 40s and I was 12.. I weighed under 100 lbs maybe 5' tall and he weighed over 200 lbs and was 6'4". And they expected me to stop him.

  my question is: why don't they?

  if the gb are issuing orders to cover up evidence in csa cases, and otherwise interfere in justice being served in those cases, then they are accessories before (and after) the fact, and theoretically can be arrested and charged as such.

  One of the big, I mean really big problems that everyone seems to be missing is that this privileged communication between an elder (clergy) and a penitent (sinner) is that is is between the clergy and the person who did something wrong.

  I have never read anywhere that it includes a child asking for help because they were abused. The child has not sinned although he or she may be told they have. The child did not commit a crime although he or she may be blamed.

  The child is begging for help.

  On that basis alone the whole issue of privilege should evaporate. But it doesn't. The WTS does not want it to disappear. They want the courts to believe that ALL communication between a congregation member and a leader of the congregation should be privileged.

  The WTS has JWs so tied up in fear of the outside authorities that they don't ask the elders to call the police or help them do it or be with them when they do it. Instead elders decide to start and finish their own "investigation". By then the child is often returned to the situation they are trying to get help for. Or they are forced to confront their abuser. Any evidence disappears. Stories get changed. The child is more fearful of the abusers, the elders AND the authorities that nothing gets done. BTW, it is extremely likely in these cases that the child will recant, because they think no one believes them, they will be blamed, and things will be worse than they were before. The child has no way of knowing that the police and social workers really can make a difference for the benefit of the child.

  As more countries around the world condemn the WTS policies, the more pressure the WTS will be to change things in the US. Pressure not from JWs but from outsiders who become more aware of the problem.

  In the US the Constitution includes the Freedom Of Religion. This makes it very hard for the law to intervene in these cases. The religion claims they follow the Bible and therefore the law can’t interfere. The wants to protect children and the religion says they do.
